PhD Student (f/m/x) Psychosocial Medicine and Developmental Neuroscience
The position is based in the Translational Developmental Neuroscience Research Group (Head: Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Ehrlich, PhD). The group focuses mainly on eating disorders and affective disorders, in close collaboration with the partner clinics at the Center for Mental Health at the University Medicine Dresden. A broad, multi-methodological approach is pursued, which includes in particular imaging techniques (MRI, fMRI, MRS), experimental and cognitive psychology, psychophysiology (eye-tracking), immunology and endocrinology methods as well as digital phenotyping (including ecological momentary assessment). The main objective is translational research, which aims to transfer research results as quickly as possible to improve diagnostics and therapy. When accepting the position, you will be actively involved in the research projects “Neuroimaging Study of Anorexia Nervosa and Factors Affecting Clinical Outcomes” and “Advancing Personalized Medicine via Companion Biomarker-Targets” in an interdisciplinary team of young researchers and clinicians. Your tasks will include planning and conducting the studies, including recruitment and scanning of participants. You will be responsible for data management and data pre-processing and will be responsible for the statistical analysis of study data and related data. You will also be involved in setting up the necessary structures and contribute to the preparation of scientific publications and presentations. You will also make an important contribution to the preparation of applications for third-party funding.
In addition to the above-mentioned research tasks, you will be responsible for supervising interns, student assistants and supervising qualification theses. There is access to numerous learning and training opportunities through the International Research Training Group (IRTG) 2773 and the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 393, in which the working group is involved. If desired, participation in events of structured graduate programs is also possible. In addition, the position offers the opportunity for further scientific training, a PhD and the acquisition of medical-psychological expertise, as well as the opportunity to participate in teaching in human medicine.
