Laser therapy
Out modern endoscopy suite uses advanced laser treatments for various urological conditions. A laser is a high-energy device that emits light through a process of optical amplification that can be used to burn tissue.
For treating non-cancerous prostate enlargement, we deploy two different types of lasers:
- Greenlightlaser™ Treatment: This method uses a laser to vaporize and remove excessive prostate tissue. One major advantage is the low risk of bleeding. This makes it an excellent choice for patients who are on blood-thinning medications.
- HoLEP Procedure: This method applies high-powered laser energy to carefully separate and remove excessive prostate tissue. It's particularly effective for patients with larger prostate glands.
Furthermore, we use laser for disintegration of kidney and ureter stones. After stone break down, the remaining smaller particles are removed from the urinary system. We use advanced therapy techniques that involve small endoscopy tools to treat patients in the least invasive way possible.
For patients with smaller prostate cancer tumors in specific areas of the prostate, we offer a modern treatment option called "focal therapy". This treatment aims to preserve as most of the prostate intact. With this technique, side effects of standard treatments like prostatectomy or radiation can be prevented. Focal therapy is suitable for patients with lower stages of prostate cancer.
For patients with high risk of prostate cancer not interested in standard treatment options, we offer experimental treatments using high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) which is performed minimally invasive through the urethra.
We provide detailed information und consultation in our clinic for patients interested in laser therapy (link).
