Timetable/hourly scope
- One week in the 5th clinical semester according to the rotation plan of the teaching department
Training goal
- Students should acquire knowledge in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of frequent urological diseases (e.g. malignancies of the urogenital tract, bladder emptying disorders, urinary incontinence, urolithiasis as well as malformations and malfunctions of the urinary tract and the genitals)
Topics
- The clinical internship includes the examination of patients on the wards including uro-sonography and digital-rectal examinations. Every student takes part in endoscopic procedures and X-ray examinations as well as in the operating theatre. In the outpatient clinic, students are introduced to and take part in diagnostic procedures (e.g. transabdominal and transrectal ultrasound, urodynamics, urine laboratory, cystoscopy and prostate biopsy) and acquire the skill to insert transurethral bladder catheters.
Requirements for proof of performance
- Requirements according to the "framework internship order"
- Regular participation is confirmed by signatures of attending physicians in the logbook
- Participation in the lectures
- Passing the written urology exam

- We meet on monday at 8:00 am in house 19, 1st floor, conference room 1.157
- Handover of the logbook
- All other dates will be announced at the introductory event
