Young ENT – Microsurgery Hands-On for Medical Students
On June 3, 2025, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery held the first session of “Young ENT”, a new interactive course designed to give medical students an early and practical insight into the world of otologic microsurgery.
Over the course of 90 minutes, participants received a concise introductory lecture on middle ear anatomy and surgical access routes, followed by a hands-on lab where they explored:
- Otoscopy and endoscopy of the ear
- Surgical access to the middle ear (model-based)
- Tympanic membrane reconstruction techniques (model-based)
With just nine spots available, the course offered a focused and intensive learning experience in a small-group setting. Whether participants were completely new to ENT or already familiar with the field, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive – and confirmed that early exposure can be both inspiring and highly motivating.
We look forward to continuing the Young ENT series and introducing more students to the fascinating field of microsurgery in ENT.
