Facilities

The Institute for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IKL) hosts 3 research facilities that centrally provide expertise in sample screening and biobanking.

  • The Experimental Mass Spectrometry Unit (EMS) is led by Dr. Mirko Peitzsch and Dr. Sofia Traikov. It provides expertise in LC-MS/MS based analysis of small molecules in biological matrices and for metabolite profiling.
  • The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) facility is led by Dr. Alexander Funk and performs high throughput metabolomic and lipidomic screening of body fluids and semi-solid tissues.
  • The Dresden Integrated Liquid Biobank (DILB) operates within the BioBank Dresden (BBD) at the National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden (NCT/UCC) and is jointly supported by the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden, the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ).
