Drug-based tumor therapy
If there is a high risk of metastasis from a tumor or if metastases are present, medical tumor therapy may be necessary. A variety of substances can be considered for this purpose. Typically, these are substances with a cytotoxic effect (chemotherapy), substances with an immunomodulatory effect (immunotherapy) or substances with a hormonal effect (hormone therapy).
Our clinic specializes in the interdisciplinary treatment of urological cancers. We work closely with the Institute for Diagnostic Radiology, the Clinic for Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology, the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine, the University Center for Orthopedics, Trauma and Plastic Surgery, the Clinic for Visceral, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery and the Department of Oncology of the Medical Clinic I. Through our integration into the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT/UCC) Dresden, we ensure the best possible university treatment. For this purpose, we are equipped with the most modern technical facilities.
Systemic oncological therapy is carried out in our clinic according to the highest medical standards and the latest scientific findings. In this way, we provide our patients with access to individualized, modern, optimized and interdisciplinary treatment.
On an outpatient basis, we advise, treat and care for patients in our uro-oncological consultation hours (link). Here we take over the coordination of therapies, which are carried out both in an inpatient and outpatient manner.
Furthermore, we offer patients the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial. Clinical trials offer patients attractive treatment alternatives to standard care and are conducted where there are no clear treatment recommendations or where a standard treatment can be supplemented or replaced by a more modern treatment. All patients enrolled in studies are closely monitored and cared for by highly qualified physicians. Currently recruiting trials can be found here (link). Registration in our study center is possible through your physician.
