Predoctoral Fellow/PhD student (f/m/x)

The focus of this research project is the characterization and better understanding of the function of the Piezo1 protein in cardiomyocytes. The research project lead by Prof. Dr. Andreas Deussen, Senior Professor at the Department of Physiology (Head: Prof. Dr. Stephan Speier) is embedded in a highly attractive transdisciplinary consortium of internationally recognized researchers in cardiac-metabolic research.

At the next possible Point of Start we are looking for a highly motivated

Predoctoral Fellow/PhD student (f/m/x)

This Part-Time-Position is limited for 12 months.

You will do experimental cardiological investigations in animal Experiments, biochemical and physiological tissue analyses. Furthermore you will support and contribute scientific publications in international journals. At the end of your work, you have to write and hand in your PhD-dissertation.  

Your Profile:

  • You have finished your Master/Diploma – or equivalent degree in medicine, biology, biochemistry, biomedicine or a closely related subject.
  • You are highly motivated to undertake experimental work assessing cardiac function and metabolism in vivo and ex vivo. Ideally, the candidate has already gained practical experiences with such techniques.
  • You are familiar with performing or have at least theoretical understanding of RT-qPCR, Western Blot and other biochemical standard techniques.
  • You have obtained pervious training with experimental animals and preferably hold already a FELASA B certificate. Ideally, you should have already performed physiological measurements in in vivo animal models.
  • You are a great team worker and you can effectively communicate (speaking and writing) in English. Additional knowledge of German is favored.
  • You enjoy studying fundamental questions in physiology and strive to advance the field.
  • You can work independently and diligently and enjoy innovation.
