Predoctoral Fellow / PhD-Student (f/m/x)

The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Clinic for Visceral-, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (Head: Prof. Dr. med. Christian Reeps) at the Universitätsklinikum Dresden, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany is seeking a

Predoctoral Fellow/PhD-Student (f/m/x)

The Part-Time position is now available. This is a three-year position.

The research of the group focuses on vascular diseases with special attention to the development, progression and rupture of human abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). Within this project, the PhD candidate will investigate the role of the Nrf2/Keap1/Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) system in progression and rupture of AAA. Tissue and primary vascular cells obtained from patients with AAA and mouse models should be analyzed. We aim to investigate whether an activation of the Nrf2/Keap1/Heme oxygenase 1 system provides a novel target for slowing the progression of AAA and reducing rupture rates. The work includes standard animal studies, molecular biology, cell culture techniques, life cell imaging, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and gene knockout strategies. An experienced senior scientist supervises the project on a daily basis.
