in Biophysics of protein machines

The Mueller-Planitz group specializes in chromatin und epigenetics, and combines genomics, mass spectrometry, protein biochemistry and biophysics. The group is located at the Institute for Physiological Chemistry (chair Prof. Jessberger) of the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus. The Institute offers an international work environment, excellent research infrastructure, and is part of a vibrant biomedicine campus.

In the project, we plan to visualize conformational changes of protein machines that work in the cell’s nucleus. We will use fluorescence and kinetic techniques, cryo-EM and cutting-edge mass spectrometry. Besides research, the position can involve teaching of biochemistry and molecular biology to students of medicine. The teaching language is German.

Your Profile:

  • You are (almost) finished with your M.Sc. in biochemistry or a related discipline and are looking for opportunities to continue with your scientific career with enthusiasm and Ambition.
  • You have gained experience in protein biochemistry or biophysical techniques.
  • You are fluent in English, are a great team worker, and you can communicate effectively.
  • You can work independently and diligently and enjoy innovation.
