PhD-Student (f/m/x)

The position is immediately available. The contract is planned for 36 months.

Within the DFG-funded Priority Program “µBone: Colonization and interaction of tumor cells in the bone microenvironment“, we are seeking to fill a PhD student position. The project aims to investigate the role of Dickkopf-1 as a mediator of inflammation in the metastatic bone microenvironment (PIs: PD Dr. Tilman Rachner and Dr. Andy Göbel). The project uses preclinical models of bone metastasis as well as cell and molecular biological methods and human samples. As part of µBone, vivid scientific interaction and collaboration with members of the consortia is expressly desired. The candidate will be responsible to organise and undertake the relevant scientific and animal model experiments in this project, to analyse and document subsequent data as well as to present and publish relevant findings. Active scientific interaction and collaboration with members of the consortia is expressly desired.

Your Profile:

  • You hold a Masters degree in biotechnology, biology, cell biology or related subjects
  • You have experimental experience in the following areas: molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, and histology
  • You have experience and willingness to work with animal models
  • You are a great team worker, flexible and communicative
  • You have good written and spoken English skills
  • You have organizational talent, work independently and pro-actively
  • You enjoy studying fundamental questions in biology and doing science
