PhD-Student (f/m/x)

This part-time postion is limited for 36 months.

The project you will work on addresses the role of the iron sensor transferrin receptor 2 (Tfr2) during ossification processes. It is funded by the DFG as part of the Research Unit FerrOs investigating the underlying mechanisms of iron regulation and its interactions with bone. The candidate will be responsible to organise and undertake the relevant scientific and animal model experiments in this project, to analyse and document subsequent data as well as to present and publish relevant findings. Active scientific interaction and collaboration with members of the consortia is expressly desired.

The standard methods of bone research as well as a broad spectrum of methods from biochemistry, cell biology and immunology are established in our lab and the project is conducted in cooperation with groups from Dresden and other sites in Germany. The scientific infrastructure of the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus is excellent, it promotes interdisciplinary and international exchange of knowledge and offers numerous possibilities for your professional and personal development.

Your Profile:

  •  You hold a Master's degree in biotechnology, biology, cell biology or a related subjects
  • You have experimental experience in the following areas: molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, and histology
  • You are willing to work with mice or have experience working with mice already
  • You are willing to work in a team, flexible and communicative
  • You have very good skills in written and spoken English
  • You have organizational talent and are able to work independently and pro-actively
  • You enjoy studying fundamental questions of medical biology and love doing science
