PhD student (f/m/x)

The main focus of the research group "Molecular Endocrinology" (Head: Prof. Dr. med Angela Hübner; scientific leader: PD Dr. rer. nat. Katrin Köhler) at the Department of Paediatrics at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden is the investigation of adrenal disorders.

Within the SFB / Transregio 205 “The adrenal: central relay in health and disease” funded by the DFG, a position as a

PhD student (f/m/x)

is advertised starting at September 1st, 2021 initially limited to 3 years.

In the sub-project A04: “In vitro and in vivo models of novel therapeutic approaches in congenital adrenal hyperplasia” new therapies for the inherited disorder congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) will be developed and experimentally tested. Our newly created mouse models for CAH will be characterised in this project and will serve as an animal model to test the novel treatment options for their mode of action, efficacy and safety in vivo. The candidate will perform and analyse animal experiments using a broad range of methods from microscopy, molecular and cellular biology. For additional PhD positions and further information visit our website.

Your profile:

  • Master/Diploma – or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, biomedicine or closely related subject
  • Expertise in molecular and cell biology
  • Practical experience with animal experiments
  • Structured, careful and goal-oriented way of working
  • High motivation, flexibility as well as innovative and creative thinking
  • A high degree of personal commitment and interest in an academic career
  • Team working skills, interdisciplinary cooperation
  • Excellent communication skills, both in verbal and written English
