Project 2
This project will perform a detailed molecular and biochemical profiling of chromaffin cell tumours in order to provide evidence for the hypothesis that the distinct clinical and catecholamine biochemical phenotypes and gene and protein expression profiles in different types of the tumour reflect development from distinct chromaffin progenitor cells. A particular focus will be placed on hypoxia-angiogenic pathways (HIF2α), REST and related secretory and energy pathways. Ultimate goals of this project are to identify novel disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets for improved therapy of malignant chromaffin cell tumours.
