Special Methods and Competence

Monika Ehrhart-Bornstein, Dr. rer. nat.

Head of the Molecular Endocrinology group in the Department of Medicine. She has dedicated her entire career to adrenal research with a focus on the interaction of adrenal medulla and adrenal cortex. Recently, her group managed to isolate and characterize for the first time adrenal chromaffin progenitor cells. She is the PI of this project and will, in close collaboration with Dr. Androutsellis-Theotokis, plan, supervise and evaluate the experiments and the data.

Andreas Androutsellis-Theotokis, PhD

Group Leader of the Stem Cell Biology laboratory. He brings to the collaboration vast expertise in somatic precursor cell culture and signal transduction. Specifically, adult stem cell culture methods he has developed will be applied, and signalling pathways he has discovered will be probed. He will supervise experiments to establish adrenal cultures and improve their yield, and to uncover the mechanisms controlling their expansion. He will evaluate experiments, interpret data, and contribute to manuscript writing.

Linda Gebauer, BSc

She is a highly skilled technician who has been working in the group since 2005. She has great experience in cell culture methods, including the culture of bovine adrenomedullary chromaffin progenitor cells and molecular biology methods (RT-PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, Western blotting).

Valdimir Vukicevic, PhD

Dr. Vukicevic is a Postdoc in the Ehrhart-Bornstein group; his position is funded by the DFG (SFB 655). He is an expert in chromaffin progenitor/stem cells and will have a consultancy function.
