Feto/neonatal Transition

Optimizing the golden hour of life by improving management in the Delivery Room (DR). Feto-neonatal transition represents a crucial event which determines long term health. Therefore, research focuses on improving management in DR. In particular, video-analysis is used to evaluate current management. Furthermore, new scores, such as the Combined-Apgar, are developed and evaluated in order to improve DR-management. Results of the research are implemented into International Resuscitation guidelines. Currently, the impact of physiology based cord clamping on postnatal adaptation is studied together with collaborators in Netherlands. Furthermore, an adapted scoring system is developed which better describes the clinical status and the intervention that are needed to achieve this condition.

First babies have been treated with the Concord-Birth troley. As the first center in Germany the Concord Birth troley was used in several newborns. It is a great progress toward new strategy in treating extremly preterm infants. Find a news report here

Research results are presented at the PAS-meeting. Maxi Kaufmann presents her research results on video analysis of delivery room management during the annual meeting of the American Academic Societies (PAS), which takes place as an online event. Another presentation is given by Lars Mense, he presents data on the Dresden approach of surfactant administration in the delivery room.
