ERCD researcher wins Patient Safety Award

Dr. Marie-Luise Metasch from the Ear Research Center Dresden has been awarded the prestigiousVDE/APS Preis für Patientensicherheit in der Medizintechnik(Medical Engineering Patient Safety Award). Awarded once annually to personnel or researchers in the field of medical engineering and technology, the award honors groundbreaking advances in processes, systems or devices that improve patients’ safety. Dr. Metasch’s work focuses on the development of a real-time monitoring system for sound transmission in the middle ear, which can be used by the ENT surgeon during surgery to evaluate, for instance, the mechanical coupling of passive prostheses to the anatomical structures.
