Dr. Christoph Müller has been awarded the dissertation prize for the best German-language doctoral thesis in the field at this year's 92nd annual meeting of the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery

The Clinic and Policlinic for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery is very pleased to announce that staff member Dr. Christoph Müller has been awarded the dissertation prize for the best German-language doctoral thesis in the field at this year's 92nd annual meeting of the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Müller conducted research at the Ear Research Center Dresden (ERCD) on the topic of "Studies on the influence of tympanic membrane reconstruction on middle ear sound transfer following reconstruction using active implants".

Investigations into the transfer characteristics of active and passive middle ear implants are a major research focus of the ERCD. "The work provides important evidence for the superiority of implantable hearing aids over conventional hearing aids in treating combined hearing loss, as regularly occurs in chronic middle ear infections," says Prof. Dr. Marcus Neudert, medical director of the ERCD.

The results of his award-winning work have been published in the journal Hearing Research, and the work has already been honoured this year by the Stiftung Hochschulmedizin and the Förderverein der Medizinischen Fakultät Carl Gustav Carus.
