Prof. Dr. med. Triantafyllos Chavakis
The research group is reinforced by the coordinator Prof. Chavakis, a recipient of the Otto Hahn Medal of the Max Planck Society. As one of the youngest section chiefs at the NIH, he joined the Dresden scientific community in April 2010. His expertise is in immunology and vascular biology with emphasis on inflammatory processes regulating leukocyte recruitment and endothelial homeostasis in the context of metabolism. With his recruitment, a leading competence in analyzing immune cell-endothelial cell interactions in the adrenal microenvironment has been introduced. His work utilises extensively mouse models of disease and genetically modified mice in experimental medicine.
